PUPILS raised their voices during an afternoon of song.
More than 80 pupils from Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School, in Peterlee, took part in a rare musical performance with a showing to classmates and another to parents.
The Year 5 and 6 children, aged nine to 11, took to the stage during a special end-of-term event.
Headteacher David Swift – who accompanied the youngsters on guitar – said: “As a school we hadn’t really done anything musical for a number of years.
“I knew we had some excellent singers and we thought it would be an nice idea to showcase the children’s talents.”
The youngsters belted out around 10 traditional and modern songs, including Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall and Make You Feel My Love by Adelle, finishing off with a rousing rendition of Proud Mary by Tina Turner.
The event featured a mix of solo and group performances.
Mr Swift added: “I think the children got an awful lot of pleasure out of doing it. “When we did it in the morning I don’t think they expected the reception they got.
“They were surprised how much people enjoyed it and were really enthusiastic about it.”
