DOZENS of youngsters from Hartlepool’s primary schools will come together next week to map out what needs to be done to secure a brighter future for the town.
Hartlepool’s West View Project, which is a long-established young people’s charitable organisation in the north of the town, is hosting the half-day event at Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience, at Hartlepool Marina.
The event, which is being held on Monday, is supported by Hartlepool Borough Council and will be chaired by Chris Simmons, a West View Project board member and borough councillor.
Rebecca Wise, participation worker with West View Project, said: “The focus of the day will be on how children feel about their town and how safe they feel within the Hartlepool community.
“The young people of our town have so much to offer and their views are so important in taking the town forward.
“The large majority of schools have indicated that they will be contributing to the debate and everyone is looking forward to hearing what pupils have to say.
“Young people are our future and they are as well placed as anyone to inform us as to what the town’s strengths and weaknesses are and how we should progress in the future.”
