FOUR women enjoyed an evening at the races courtesy of the business park where they work.

The quartet who work at Wynyard Park-based Semta, the sector skills council for science, engineering and manufacturing technologies, received free tickets for the recent Ladies Night meet at Sedgefield Racecourse.

Lauren Henderson, personal assistant to Semta’s UK operations director, won the tickets after entering a prize draw at a Royal Ascot event in June that was organised and hosted by The Wynyard Rooms, the function room venue on 700-acre Wynyard Park.

She decided to share her prize with UK operations director Lynn Tomkins, PR and communications manager Joanne Iceton and communications co-ordinator Megan Henderson.

Greeted by two complimentary bottles of champagne provided by Wynyard Park, the women joined thousands of other racegoers at Sedgefield to watch seven races.

Lauren said:“I had never been to a race meeting before and the whole experience was brilliant. The champagne was a lovely touch and completed a great evening. I’d like to thank Wynyard Park for making this possible.”

The four women enjoyed a flutter and chalked up one winner (Glenora Gale) and two seconds (Otto Quercus and Ballybanks).

Matt Johnson, Wynyard Park development manager, said: “We are delighted that Lauren and her colleagues had such a great time. The Royal Ascot event that we stage every year is very popular and great fun, but you can’t beat attending a racecourse for real.

“I’d like to thank Sedgefield Racecourse for their co-operation and help in ensuring that the women had such an enjoyable evening.”
