A MAJOR race day in aid of Hartlepool & District Hospice is hoping to raise £10,000.
The event is being hosted by Wynyard Park at Sedgefield Racecourse later this year and organisers say they are delighted to be raising funds for the hospice.
Beth Dougherty, from Wynyard Park, said: “Hartlepool Hospice provides a range of invaluable services and it is a very deserving cause.
“As patrons of Hartlepool Hospice, we are delighted to be staging this fundraising event and we would urge people to help make it a great success by buying tickets or sponsoring a horse race.
“We would also like to thank Sedgefield Racecourse for their on-going support, as we wouldn’t be able to stage the event without their help.”
Details of the event have been unveiled just days after it was revealed that a fundraising dinner in aid of Hartlepool Hospice held at Wynyard Park earlier in July was the most successful event of its type in the history of the hospice – raising almost £30,000 on the night.
Greg Hildreth, corporate events fundraiser at Hartlepool Hospice, added: “We are absolutely thrilled to be continuing our successful partnership with Wynyard Park and working with Sedgefield Racecourse to stage this event which is set to be another massive fundraiser for us.
“As ever, the generous support of local people and businesses is vital in enabling us to continue providing the range of specialist care services to patients and their families from Hartlepool and the surrounding area.”
Jill Williamson, executive director of Sedgefield Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to be part of this vital fundraising event for Hartlepool Hospice.”
The race day takes place Tuesday, December 2 from 11am to 8pm and includes a full race card of seven races.
Tickets are £75 - £750 for a full table of ten and organisers say it will make an ideal Christmas party event for firms, businesses and groups of friends.
There is also the opportunity to sponsor each of the horse races – at a cost of £1,500 per race. For tickets and information call Sedgefield Racecourse on (01740) 621925 or email Melissa Hogan on firstname.lastname@example.org
