CHARITY chiefs have praised the generous people who helped them raise more than £800 at a fundraising event.

The Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group held a race night which helped to gather in money for the group.

HSNSG manager Pat Allison was delighted with the response and said the success was down to the Core Fundraising section of the support group.

She added: “We are absolutely delighted with this.

“They worked very hard to also make the venue look the part of the occasion.”

The event was held in the Grand Hotel, which is in Swainson Street in Hartlepool.

Pat described it as “a fun, relaxed night, with raffle and bottle stall”.

The support group was set up on September 29, 1989.

It has grown hugely since then and now owns its own resource centre in Park Road.

Tickets for the race night are available from the Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group office.

The group can also be contacted on (01429) 863766 or 07963 324496.
