A TALENTED youngster impressed judges at a national trampoline competition.

Emily Kirkham, 14, is a member of the Aeronauts Trampoline Club, which trains every week at English Martyrs RC School and Sixth Form College, in Catcote Road.

The youngster has recently returned from a national gala competition in Dundee where she came third in the Under 15 Grade C category.

Her coaches have praised the dedication of Emily, who trains up to five times a week.

The Dyke House Sports and Technology College pupil returned home with a trophy for her efforts coming third in a tough category with nine other competitors.

Linsey Ryder, 32, the head coach of the club, said she was extremely proud of Emily, who is coached at the club by her mum Lisa Kirkham.

Linsey, who lives in the Bishop Cuthbert area of Hartlepool with her partner, Richard Starrs, 37, said: “I am over the moon for Emily.

“She works really hard and is often training four or five times a week.

“Emily is absolutely brilliant and we are delighted for her.”

The competition was held at the Dundee Sports Complex, in Scotland.

Emily made it through after qualifying through regional competitions.

The Aeronauts Trampoline Club, which was previously Hartlepool Trampoline Club, holds sessions on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evening from 5pm-8pm.

Adults sessions take place on a Tuesday from 6.30pm-8pm.

Members also meet on a Saturday from 9am-3pm.

A Come and Bounce session is also held on a Saturday between noon and 3pm, open to adults and children.
