The life of a brave mum who lost a fight with cervical cancer aged just 33 will be celebrated during a fundraiser.
Liam Mason, 21, was just 13 when his loving mum passed away in 2006, also leaving behind Liam’s dad Lee and younger siblings Lauren, now 18 and Ryan, now 13.
Liam, about to start a masters degree in criminology at Northumbria University, said: “Mum was very family-orientated. It’s still hard, but now we think more about happy memories.”
A charity night is planned from 7.30pm on Saturday, August 10 at The Green pub, in Front Street, Trimdon Village, in Mandie’s memory.
Two causes will benefit – Cancer Research UK and the Clarke Lister Brain Haemorrhage Foundation.
Liam’s band Quadrophonic will perform as well as Mark Thompson, Les Kay and Louise Cawthorn, and there will also be fire-breathers and stilt-walkers, a pie and peas supper, raffle, auction as well as cake stalls.
Liam will also run the Great North Run with fellow Quadrophonic member Phil Unsworth, who runs Guappo Hair Design, with wife Sam in Shotton Colliery. Liam will raise money for Cancer Research while Phil and Sam will help the foundation, which they have raised thousands for by completing the run over the past 10 years.
Tickets are £5 and available by calling Liam on 07734 323353, Phil on 07884073669 or Sam on 07789952518.
