A HARTLEPOOL resident has thrown his hat into the ring to stand as MP – almost two years before a General Election is due to take place.

Shane Moore has received the unanimous backing of the Executive of Hartlepool Conservatives to go forward as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PCC) in the election scheduled for May 7, 2015.

He has not yet been selected as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate (CPC) but has thrown his name forward and is a step closer after receiving the unanimous backing of local Conservatives.

Mr Moore said he doesn’t want to be a politician but does want to serve the town and its people.

The ongoing selection process is likely to include an interview process in London with national bosses before the final candidate is confirmed when the association calls a meeting of its members.

Mr Moore said as far as he is aware there are currently no other prospective Conservative candidates for Hartlepool for the election.

The proud 30-year-old said: “I sought the backing of the Executive of Hartlepool Conservatives to go forward as a Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) and I am delighted to say that I received a unanimous vote of support.

“I will now go through the motions of being selected as the official Conservative Parliamentary Candidate (CPC).

“If selected I would very much look to hit the ground running.”

Mr Moore, who is from the West View area of town, who currently works as a forge worker at Clydesdale Forge.

The married dad-of-one, added: “Coming forward to stand as a CPC was not an easy decision to make since I have never planned to potentially swap my job in Clydesdale Forge to become a politician.

“I don’t want to be a politician but I do want to serve the town I grew up in and the people I grew up with.

“The only promise I will make at this point is that I will always act in the best interest of this town, regardless of party politics because the people deserve someone who will represent them wholeheartedly and not make decisions which they believe will further their political career.”
