A RETIRED couple are celebrating after scooping £4.5m in a massive Lotto quadruple rollover draw.

Former welder, Denis Graham, and his wife Mary, a retired health care assistant, have played The National Lottery for almost 20 years, using the same numbers throughout.

Denis bought his ticket from Martin’s Newsagents, in Billingham, and on Wednesday, September 17, when the draw was made, their numbers came up trumps.

The numbers were 9, 19, 22, 34,41, 46 and the bonus ball was 6.

Grandfather of three, Denis, from Billingham, checked his ticket the following morning and could not believe it when each number matched.

He said: “It still doesn’t feel quite real and I keep having to convince myself we’ve actually won!

“I didn’t actually check the results until the following morning – I went online on my computer and thought I’d won £25 for three numbers which I was happy enough with, then I realised I had more numbers! I couldn’t quite believe it when I matched all six, I felt numb and thought it was some kind of joke!

“I went downstairs to see Mary and said ‘I think we might have won the lottery’ and after I showed her she couldn’t quite believe it either.”

The pair have won a whopping £4,570,887.

Mary added: “It’s such a wonderful feeling but we’re determined that this won’t change us and plan to enjoy the feeling of winning while we decide what we’re going to do with the money.

“We decided to share the news of our win as we didn’t want to keep it a secret and we want people to know that it’s possible for normal hard working people like us to win.”

One thing that Denis and Mary are clear on when it comes to spending their winnings is that they intend to share their winnings with their two sons, Darren and Matthew, and their families, and also possibly go on a cruise.
