A TALENTED teenage performer has an opportunity for a breakthrough after securing a spot supporting a television star on stage.

Singer and songwriter Sam Barrass, 19, will join I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here contestant and Benidorm actress Crissy Rock as she continues her local tour.

Sam, a former High Tunstall College of Science student, is no stranger to performing on the big stage.

The son of town performing arts school principal Debbie Barrass is a talented tap dancer and is a past winner of the prestigious British Song and Dance championships.

But the teenager is now focusing on his music career and is hoping to fulfil his dreams of becoming a recording artist.

He will be hoping to impress the audience at Belle Vue Way Social Club tomorrow night after he was announced as one of the supporting acts to Peterlee-based Crissy Rock.

Crissy, fresh from award winning success as part of the recent series of I’m A Celebrity at the National TV Awards, is performing in town ahead of a UK tour getting underway next weekend.

As reported in the Mail, she will be joined by local singer Lewis Laking, who impressed at one of Crissy’s recent shows in Billingham.

And organiser Paul ‘Goffy’ Gough, who runs Hartlepool-based Goffy Media is delighted to welcome Sam onboard and make it an all-town support.

He said: “It will have a great Poolie feel to the night, a packed house and a great opportunity for both Sam and Lewis to gain experience, showcase their undoubted talents and put themselves in the shop window.

“It really is a perfect opportunity for them and I’m thrilled that they are joining us.”

Sam, who is managed by Andy Bell and 89 Entertainment, has a number of gigs lined up and will be supporting other artists around the UK in the coming months.

He has already appeared on radio stations and stages in Edinburgh and Durham.

The event at the club, in Kendal Road, Hartlepool, will get underway at 8pm tomorrow.

A few tickets are still available priced at £5.

Money raised on the night will go to 21st Century Kids, a charity set up by Crissy’s I’m A Celebrity friend and former Olympian Fatima Whitbread.

For tickets call the club on (01429) 273974 or Goffy Media on 07990 588424.
