A MUM says she owes her life to an eagle-eyed optician who found a deadly illness during a routine eye check in a supermarket.

Marie Oliver, 32, thought she only had a headache when she went to see optician Matthew Gee-Smith at Tesco Extra, in Burn Road, Hartlepool.

But he soon spotted a problem and within two weeks Marie went under the knife to have life-threatening fluid removed from her brain.
