Sunderland’s first game in their tour of North America was put at risk after a huge fire in the area of California where the team are set to play.

About 20 crews of firefighters were called to the blaze on the American River Parkway, near the California State Fair.

They were able to get the fire under control and the match with Sacramento Republic FC is now set to go ahead at 4am GMT. You can watch the game live, here.

A similar fire last year saw a match cancelled at the Bonney Field Stadium, where Sunderland are due to play at 8pm local time, due to poor air quality.
