A JUMBLE sale with a nautical difference is coming to Hartlepool.

Everything you ever needed for your maritime requirements will be on offer at the town’s very first boat jumble planned for July.

From propellers to whole boats, it’s all expected to be up for grabs to bargain hunters.

The event will also include a jumble of caravans and organisers are hoping hundreds of people will turn up at Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience.

It is being organised jointly by the HMS Trincomalee Trust and Hartlepool Borough Council, with a guiding hand from Hartlepool Marina.

The Trust’s general manager David McKnight said: “It is a really exciting opportunity for people to enjoy something different.

“It is something for anyone with an interest in maritime and leisure.”

Katie Hammond, the council’s events officer, said: “This is also a genuine opportunity for people to enjoy an event which will also include activity on the water.”

The fun will start at 9.30am on Sunday, July 17, with activities including Thundercats boat racing in Hartlepool Marina.

The jumble will open from 10.30am and an auction of boat and caravan goods will be held from 1pm-4pm in the Baltic Suite.

The event is expected to attract interest from Amble in the north to Whitby in the south.

Mr McKnight added: “We are expecting 1,000 for the jumble and perhaps 200 bidders for the auction with between 100 and 120 lots an hour.”

Any funds made from the event will go towards the upkeep of the Trincomalee, to support Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience and possibly towards funds for a similar event in the future.
