FUNDRAISERS have thanked the people of Hartlepool for their “amazing generosity”.
A bucket collection, held at Tesco supermarket, in the town’s Belle Vue Way, at the weekend, raised £450 in just six hours.
The money collected will all go to Teesside Samaritans.
Damon Millar, branch director of Teesside Samaritans, which is based in Middlesbrough, but helps people in Hartlepool, said: “We’d like to say a real big thank you to everyone who donated and to Tesco for allowing us to collect.
“Historically we’ve always been well supported by the people of Hartlepool. They recognise that, as Christmas approaches, there are many people who will contemplate taking their own lives because of desperate circumstances.
“Samaritans are available 24-hours-a-day for anyone who feels the need to talk.”
