A SERIES of events is being held to show off the wealth of natural beauty on our coastline.

The Limestone Festival will see events like walks and other activities held in Hartlepool and east Durham.

The festival, which is being held along the North-East coast, has gained financial backing from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Events include Floristic Wonders of the Coast with Michelle Appleby, which is a three-mile walk meeting at Blackhall Rocks picnic area on Saturday at 1.30pm.

Marbled White Butterflies, Dragonflies and Wildflowers is a three-mile walk around Wingate Quarry Local Nature Reserve on Tuesday, July 19, at 11am.

A range of safe and enjoyable health walks run by Easington Get Active Get Walking include a Wheatley Hill Health Walk from Greenhills Community Centre on Mondays from 10am-11am and a Blackhall Health Walk from Blackhall Community Centre on Fridays from 1pm-2pm

There is also a Hart to Haswell Walk this Friday and people are urged to meet at the walkway entrance in Ocean Road at 10.30am.
