A GARDEN centre welcomed a special guest as its support of a young people’s charity appeal got off to a flying start.

Santa Claus took time out from his busy schedule to speak to children at Sweet P’s, in Hartlepool.

Money raised from his visits will go towards TFM Radio’s Cash For Kids annual Christmas appeal.

Santa will return to the grotto every Saturday before Christmas when there will be other festive attractions going on.

He will be in his grotto from 11am to 3pm and every visitor will receive a free gift.

Cash For Kids works to improve the lives of disabled and disadvantaged youngsters in South Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire.

The centre in Sarah Street, off Belle Vue Way, also welcomed Cash For Kids’ mascot Courage the Cat.
