A new website dedicated to a campaign to return services to Hartlepool hospital has gone live.

The Save Hartlepool Hospital site has been created by the Town of Challenge campaign group and is in addition to a similar site supporting the town’s magistrates’ court.

It sets out why the group is fighting for the hospital and how people can get involved to gather more support.

A spokesman for the challenge group said: “We are evolving as a group with the needs of the people of Hartlepool to try to achieve the same goals.

“By using social media as part of the campaign, we are attracting more people than simply by standing outside of premises.

“Hopefully, this new direction will also show people we are more than just a Facebook page.”

We want the services we rightly deserve returned.

The group spent about three months working on the site after securing the domain www.savehartlepolhospital.com.
It says the University Hospital of Hartlepool has been systematically stripped of services over the last 10 years including the accident and emergency department.

It adds that people without cars struggle to get to the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton.

The site states: “We care, we want you to care and we want the services we rightly deserve to be returned back to the area and community where they are needed the most.”

It encourages visitors to contact MP Iain Wright and the Hartlepool and Stockton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which has offered to work with the challenge group.

Details of upcoming meetings of the challenge group are also featured.
