TEACHERS invited parents, pupils and former students along to an information event about their new school.
Dyke House Sports and Technology College took over the Central Square in Middleton Grange shopping centre, Hartlepool, for three hours on Saturday.
Staff were on hand to let people know about their new school and carried out a host of activities to showcase the facilities.
The Mapleton Road school recently unveiled its new £12.5m building and also held an open evening yesterday to give visitors more details.
Teacher Ceri Dolan said: “We wanted to give people the chance to find out about the school, especially after the new build, so we thought it would be best to go out into the community.
“We asked for as many Year 6 pupils and their parents as possible to come down to the event and find out what their new school has to offer.
“We were also pleased to see lots of former pupils come down so we could ask them about their time here and they shared their experiences with the school radio station.”
Pupils were also showing off the school’s new uniform and examples of this year’s PE kit.
A laser machine was used to inscribe key rings and wristbands and memory pens were also available.
Former Hartlepool United striker Eifion Williams, who has worked with the schoolchildren, organised some football-related fun while a host of other small activities also took place.
