A SCHOOLBOY was taken to hospital with bruising to the leg and chest after being hit by a car - but he was due back at school today.
The 11-year-old was struck by a silver Vauxhall Astra at rush hour on the corner of Catcote Road and Oxford Road, in Hartlepool, yesterday morning just before 9am.
Police and paramedics were called to the busy road and the youngster, who is in Year 7, was taken away in an ambulance for treatment to his injuries.
Michael Lee, headteacher at English Martyrs RC School and Sixth Form College confirmed to the Mail there were no broken bones and after speaking with his relatives the youngster was due back today.
Mr Lee said: “We are relieved and pleased that it was nothing more serious.” The Great North Air Ambulance was called but turned back.
Cleveland Police confirmed the 11-year-old was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall.
