A SCHOOLBOY who was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car is described as being in a “stable” condition today.

The eight-year-old Hartlepool youngster was struck by the vehicle in Irvine Road, in the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool, at 12.15pm on Sunday, October 6.

He suffered life-threatening head injuries and was airlifted to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.

Five days after the collision a spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “The boy is in a stable condition in hospital”.

While emergency services dealt with the situation, olice officers closed off the road while the boy was treated as shocked neighbours looked on.

Officers investigating the collision urged anyone who saw what happened, who has not already spoken to police, to get in touch on 101.
