RUGBY coaches are reminding aspiring players of the chance to try out the sport at free weekly sessions.

Youngsters have been turning out in force for the sessions every Sunday morning at Hartlepool Rugby Club, in Easington Road.

But there’s still chance for others to go along and enjoy an introduction to rugby.

Tag, touch and contact sessions are held at the rugby club from 10.30am and last around an hour.

Coaches have organised the sessions to give youngsters in the town a taster of the sport and also to promote teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.

They say the sessions will be fun-packed for youngsters and an enjoyable introduction into rugby.

Stewart Hind, Hartlepool Rugby Club’s director of rugby, said: “The turn out has been good and the response and feedback we have had from youngsters and parents has been excellent.

“But we just wanted to remind people that the sessions are there every week for youngsters to enjoy, and they are completely free.

“No experience is necessary and the sessions are aimed at boys and girls between five and 12 years old.”

Club bosses say the sessions have been launched to promote teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship for the children taking part. The sessions will last around an hour.

Anyone interested in finding out more information about the rugby sessions are asked to call the rugby club on (01429) 266445 or contact Stewart on 07854869975.
