COUNCIL chiefs say some services will be affected during the festive period.
Hartlepool Borough Council said administrative buildings including the civic centre, Bryan Hanson House, Aneurin Bevan House, Municipal Buildings, Leadbitter Buildings and Church Street offices will close today at 3.30pm, with telephone lines open until 4.30pm, and reopen on Tuesday, January 3.
The duty social work team will be operating from the civic centre today until 4.30pm when the Emergency Duty Team will take over.
The team will be operating from Aneurin Bevan House on December 28 and 29 from 8.30am to 5pm and on December 30 from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Kerbside Christmas tree collections will carried out on a ward-by-ward basis and begin on Monday, January 9, in the Hart and Brus wards and the villages of Elwick, Dalton Piercy and Hart. Collections will then take place in St Hilda, Throston and Dyke House wards on January 10, Burn Valley, Park, Foggy Furze and Grange wards on January 11, Rift House, Stranton, Owton and Seaton wards on January 12 and Fens and Rossmere, Greatham and Newton Bewley on January 13.
Household refuse and recycling will be collected one day later than normal between December 26 and January 6.
The Household Waste Recycling Centre in Burn Road will be open from 8am–4.30pm every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
The grounds at Stranton Cemetery and Book of Remembrance viewing room are open to visitors throughout the Christmas and New Year holidays between the hours of 8am and 4.30pm. For out of hours emergencies, telephone (01429) 869424.
The Register Office team will be operating, by appointment only, from Aneurin Bevan House on December 28, 29 and 30 from 9am to 4pm (closed for lunch noon–1pm).
