TWO great charities have received cash boosts thanks to the generosity of a group of golfers.
The ladies section of Seaton Carew Golf Club swung into action to raise £1,600 for Macmillan Cancer Support and nursing home that specialises in dementia care.
The money was raised from a coffee morning held at the gold club last month.
A host of stalls, raffles and fun games, such as guessing the number of golf tees in a jar, saw the cash pour in.
Ladies captain Lynne Franklin presented the money to Delphine Brady, captain of Durham County Ladies Golf Association, whose chosen charity for the year is Macmillan Cancer Support.
A share of the proceeds was also presented to managers of Gretton Court nursing home, in Heather Grove, Hartlepool.
The home specialises in supporting people with dementia and is run by the Hospital of God at Greatham.
Margaret Frazer, of the Seaton ladies section, said: “We always donate some of the money we make from the coffee morning to the county captain’s charity.
“Lots of our members of the club have been touched by cancer and a number also have relatives living and dealing with Alzheimer’s so both causes are close to their hearts.”
