Superhero favourite Spider-Man will be swinging in to a Hartlepool community centre for an open day.

Kilmarnock Road Children & Young People Family Resource Centre in Owton Manor is opening its doors tomorrow to show what it has to offer.

People are invited to chat to staff and have a look around between 11am and 2pm in an effort by managers to increase users.

Ann Heaton, admin assistant, said: “The open day is really just to open it up and to raise awareness that the centre is here and show what we have got to offer.”

Activities on the day will include children’s games, music, face painting, Spider-Man and hopefully some other special guests.

It will also be an opportunity for locals to meet the team and speak to them about the centre’s various clubs and facilities for people of all ages.

It holds an advice session every Tuesday for help with completing benefit application forms and information, a lunch club and bingo group.

The centre also runs chair aerobic exercises for the elderly or infirm, and will soon be starting a walking bus to safely take youngsters to nearby Grange Primary School.

It also has its own cafe and is home to day nursery Little Stars and junior and senior youth clubs.

Everyone is welcome.
