Seeing yellow for charity

A BINGO club is helping to raise vital cash for charity.

Members of the Mecca Bingo club in Hartlepool will be seeing yellow this month with the launch of their Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal.

Throughout this month there will be a range of events including yellow themed days, charity auctions and street collections.

It is the second year that the club has taken part in the campaign.

Gavin Lee, manager of the club, said: “Our budding fundraisers are geared up and ready to help raise as much money as they can for such a worthy organisation.”

The Great Daffodil Appeal aims to rasie more than £5.5m this year for the charity.

The money raised will allow nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.

The campaign encourages people across the UK to give a donation in return for a daffodil pin.

James Dennison, community fundraiser for the charity, hopes to gain the support of Hartlepool this month.

He said: “We hope that everyone across Hartlepool will wear the daffodil pin this March, helping the charity raise funds and awareness for Marie Curie.”
