THE organiser of a planned reunion has announced a date for his classmates’ diaries.
Michael Gant has appeared in the Mail trying to gauge support for a get-together for Henry Smith School’s Class of 1978.
He has received lots of interest after setting up a Facebook page called Henry Smith’s 1978 School Reunion page.
Now, after the majority agreed they were available, a date has been announced for the reunion.
It is planned to take place on Saturday, September 20, at 7pm.
Michael says a potential venue would be Hartlepool Rovers Rugby Club, in West View Road.
Michael, who runs Rainbow Photography, which is based on Hartlepool’s Headland, said: “The general consensus is that September 20 would be a good date.
“We are going to make it a ticket event, possibly for £5.”
The 52-year-old, who is married to Brenda and dad to Jennifer and Joshua, said he would also like to hear suggestions as to what type of band could provide the entertainment on the night.
Headland man Michael, who is a musician himself and has had a comeback with a group called Presence which was formed when he was at school, said he would love to play at the reunion.
But he added that his music might be a bit rocky, while the girls from his year group might prefer to hear 70s or 80s music.
The year group had nine classes so it is estimated that there are at least 270 people in the Class of 1978 – and as many as possible are urged to get along on the night.
