GIRLGUIDES from across the UK set sail from Hartlepool for a trip of a lifetime.
Four 72ft Challenger yachts, with all-female crews, set sail from Hartlepool Marina headed for Portsmouth.
The week-long trip, which saw them set off from town on Sunday, sees them stop in Holland along the way.
The Challenger racing yachts are owned by the Tall Ships Youth Trust and have all been used in round the world yacht races.
Hilary Cooper, chief commissioner of Girlguiding North East England, said: “Giving members of Girlguiding UK from all over the country the opportunity to join together to experience the excitement of sailing the Challenger yachts is an important chance for them to experience the power of teamwork and meeting challenges.
“I am sure that they will all finish this week with the satisfaction of doing something they hadn’t previously thought possible.”
