A LABORATORY manager from a Billingham dental clinic became the first UK technician to sharpen his skills by attending a top centre in America.

Richard Elliott, a dental laboratory manager at Queensway Dental Clinic, attended the internationally-renowned Kois Centre in Seattle for a five day course.

He described the experience at the stat-of-the-art facility as “incredible” that will help patients back home.

Richard said: “My first experience of the Kois Centre was incredible.

“I found the whole experience utterly enthralling. It’s a state-of-the-art facility.

“What I learnt throughout my five days was invaluable. It has provided me with a better understanding of clinical management, which I am then applying to my everyday role.

“The work undertaken there has helped me to cement ideas and principles of dentistry.”

Richard said he also learned from the passion and enthusiasm of fellow dentists from around the world he met and shared ideas with at the centre.

He added: “Not only do you learn from the Centre directly, but also indirectly from interacting with others.

“I can then pass the knowledge I have learned onto my members of staff, which of course directly benefits the patients at the clinic.”

Richard, along with fellow partners from Queensway Dental Clinic, will be going back to complete further stages in the nine-course curriculum in March, May and November.

The Kois Center, founded by Dr John Kois offers top training in a variety of areas including restorative dentistry.
