A HEALTH receptionist is in the running for a title after being described as “always having a smile on her face”.

Saleha Hussain was stunned when she was told she had been nominated for a Best of Health trophy for a third year in a row.

Sal was honoured as the receptionist of the year in 2012 and, despite being nominated again in 2013, did not come away with honours that time.

But one unnamed member of the public put her in the running again this year, and said: “Sal always helps me get the help that I need when I visit the drug centre. She always has a smile on her face and is friendly.”

Saleha is the face of the misuse team at the Substance Misuse Service, based in Whitby Street in Hartlepool.

The team is the one which initiates treatment programmes for “clients with different substance misuse addictions,” said Saleha.

Saleha joins a list of more than 50 nominations for this year’s awards- and all of them would make worthy winners.

But we want more. Every nominated cause will be given careful consideration before the shortlists are drawn up.

Saleha said: “It is nice to be put forward. It is overwhelming as well. I was in it in 2012 and I won an award that year. Last year, I didn’t win but it is lovely that someone has put me in for it again this time.”

It is going to be tough to pick winners from an already strong field of contestants and we predict the process won’t get any easy for the competitition judges as there’s still more than a week to go until the deadline for entries.

In the meantime, why not make our job even harder by putting forward your own favourite.
