A CHARITY event has celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The Durham Shopping Extravaganza annual charity event celebrated the milestone with this year’s fundraiser at The Wynyard Rooms, at Wynyard Park, being held yesterday and today.

There are 70 stalls offering a wide range of stylish products from all over the country, including gourmet foods, jewellery, toys and items for the home.

Over the last 25 years, the Durham Shopping Extravaganza has raised more than £340,000 for local charities and this year it is supporting The Soldiers’ Charity, Free the Way (Seaham) and Moving On.

The event was opened by broadcaster and author Edward Stourton was also signing books. The Durham Shopping Extravaganza opens to visitors from 10am-4pm today. Admission is £4.
