AROUND 4,000 people turned out to enjoy all the fun of this year’s fun-filled Peterlee Show.
A jam-packed entertainment schedule of non-stop fun ensured there was something for all the family.
The event kicked off at 10.30am on September 1 with a parade from Peterlee Leisure Centre to the Helford Road showground.
From then on, there was no let-up in activities to enjoy.
Highlights included a circus, musical acts and a fun run, a fireworks finale.
Peterlee Mayor, Councillor Bob Kyle, chairman of the show committee, said: “I was there all weekend
“It was brilliant, everything was just champion.
“Everything went off well, including the dog show and horticultural show. The weather got out nice on Sunday, so that helped.”
Mayor Kyle added that a particular highlight was the fireworks finale at 10pm on Sunday, which had been cancelled in previous years due to cutbacks.
“I’m looking forward to next year’s event,” said the Mayor.
He added that the Burgermeister, or Mayor, of Nordenham, Peterlee’s German twin town, was also in Peterlee from Friday to Sunday and was impressed with the show.
Steven Bennett, winner of the Peterlee Search for a Star contest, donated half his £200 winnings to the Shinwell Centre, a day centre in the town.
Inspector Dave Coxon of Peterlee Police said apart from one drink-related arrest, the event was good-natured.
