YOUNGSTERS can sign up to a citizen scheme and enjoy a free weekend outdoors.
There are about 100 places left for 16-year-olds on the Cleveland National Citizen Service (NCS) scheme. The deadline for applications is Monday.
Anyone taking part can either enjoy adrenaline filled activities at a camp in Hexham or sail on a tall ship.
Cleveland was announced as one of only a few pilots across the country and staff from partner agencies have been hitting the streets and travelling around towns and neighbourhoods in youth buses to raise awareness since the project launched in March.
The programme also combines three weeks of full- time activities and a further 30 hours on a part-time basis over a number of weeks.
The Cleveland pilot is being led by Safe in Tees Valley with support from a number of partners including local authorities, uniformed services, young people’s services, the Tall Ships Youth Trust, Zenith Leisure and voluntary agencies.
