SPORTS fans can get their hands on some top prizes that will go to the highest bidder.

A replica 1966 England football shirt signed by World Cup hero Gordon Banks is one of a host of items up for auction.

Other goodies include a round of golf at Seaton Carew Golf Club, a family ticket for a match at Durham International Cricket Club and a signed Hartlepool United ball.

They are just some of the lots that will go under the hammer in the auction being organised by the Hospital of God in Greatham.

It takes place at Stitchell House residential home in the village on Tuesday, November 18, and all money raised will go towards helping the residents to stay active and entertained.

Activities co-ordinator Christine Phillips said: “We have 35 residents in Stitchell House and this auction is for their activities fund.

“Every penny will go into the fund which pays for things like trips out, entertainment, parties, taxis to town.

“It is also used to buy games and other resources.”

Cricket fans are sure to be bowled over by the prize of a club pass for two adults and two children to a 2015 domestic, international or twenty twenty match.

Another item is a behind the scenes tour of Middlesbrough FC’s Riverside Stadium for two.

Seaton Carew Golf Club has donated a voucher for four people to enjoy a round of 18 holes, valid until next September.

There will also be a host of other goods to bid for ranging from household goods and watches to wine and Christmas treats.

A similar event last year raised £500 in just a couple of hours but organisers are hoping to make even more this year.

The auction starts at 6pm and everyone is welcome.

Stitchell House is also looking forward to it’s Christmas Fair.

It is on Saturday, November 29, between 10am-12pm when there will be raffles, cake stalls, festive crafts and tombolas.
