A DANCE school is celebrating a double major achievement.
The Karen Liddle School of Dance which is based in Hartlepool has just switched to its new home of the Northern Lights Academy Building near St Hild’s School in town.
The move comes at a significant time for Karen and her students as the school is 25 years old this year.
And to mark the important anniversary, the school will be putting on a production called Hot In The City later this year.
Proud dance school owner Karen told Dance Fever: “We have about 80 students at the moment and they are aged from two upwards. We are hoping to get more children in from around the area and it is part of the reason why we are introducing new classes.
“We are going to be doing some acro, ballet and, on a Saturday, we will be doing workshops. In the workshops, we will be doing singing, acting and dancing and we are going to call it the melodramatics group.”
There’s plenty of choice for those thinking of joining the school.
The school holds classes every weekday evening apart from Wednesdays. They run from 3.15pm to 9pm and the school also holds classes “all day on a Saturday from 9am to 5pm,” said Karen.
“Beginners can come along any day they want to get more information, and that way they can see what the classes entail.”
Classes started in the new building earlier this week and Karen would love to hear from more potential students, especially with an anniversary performance coming up.
“This seems a good time to be holding an anniversary show,” said Karen. “We have also moved to the new premises and we are hoping that opens up new avenues.
“We are also doing the show in October in the Town Hall Theatre in Hartlepool during half term week.”
Up to 100 performers are expected to take to the stage and Karen would love to hear from former students who would like to get involved.
