OPERA star Lesley Garrett is set to perform in Hartlepool this weekend in front of a packed crowd.
Hartlepool Male Voice Choir is looking forward to singing alongside Lesley for a second time at the Borough Hall on the Headland on Saturday, June 15.
Choir members are looking forward to the performance alongside the international singing sensation.
Speaking recently, Duncan Graham, chairman of Hartlepool Male Voice Choir, said: “We are really looking forward to her coming.
“She was fantastic last time.”
“We have got the music she will be performing, but the final rehearsal with her will take place on the afternoon of the concert.”
Choir members have been rehearsing for months ahead of the show and the final rehearsal with the world-renowned singing star herself will take place on the afternoon of the concert.
Lesley, well known from many stage and screen appearances, first performed with the male voice choir two years ago in a memorable sell out show.
Her latest appearance in town comes fresh from her successful return to opera in a demanding one-woman show.
She won top reviews from critics for her performance in Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine (The Human Voice) for Opera North in Leeds.
Duncan added: “She won a lot of praise in the press for her performance.
“It is a lot like an athlete going into training.
“I think she will be in top form.
“Lesley thrilled the audience when she was our guest star two years ago and the choir is delighted that she has agreed to return.”
The male voice choir will join Lesley on stage for two numbers in each half of the concert which is due to start at 7.30pm.
Lesley is not the only star to have performed with the choir as they have also hosted Russell Watson and Aled Jones.
