The sister of former Sunderland player Adam Johnson has rubbished claims her brother has been attacked in prison,

Faye Johnson took to Twitter to laugh off claims Johnson, who was jailed for six years March, had been punched in the face by an inmate.

The 28-year-old is currently serving his sentence at Doncaster's Moorland prison after he was found guilty by a jury of sexual activity with a child.

He had previously admitted another charge of sexual activity with a child and one of grooming.

It had been claimed Johnson had been attacked after he refused to clean hair from a plug hole.

But, the claims were laughed off by his sister Faye who took to Twitter after speaking to her brother.

She wrote: “The press make me laugh. Just spoke to my brother, the articles are all untrue! You will all hear the truth when Adam comes home!”

Johnson is awaiting news as to whether an appeal lodged against his conviction of sexual activity with a child will go ahead.
