HUNDREDS of women from across the region descended on a top hotel for an annual fundraiser which rakes in thousands of pounds for good causes.
North East Ladies Day was held at Hardwick Hall, in Sedgefield, on Wednesday with guests from various business and charities.
The event, which is now in its 31st year, has so far raised £165,000 for several charities throughout the North-East.
This year’s chosen beneficiaries are Victoria’s Wish, which helps children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, St Margaret’s Centre for people with mental health issues, and the Kilton Thorpe Friends’ Association for youngsters with learning difficulties.
Dawn Wright, who chairs the group, said: “The event is always a day when us ladies get together and enjoy a good old knees-up and raise money for vital causes.”
The guest speaker at the event was comedienne, actor and novelist Jenny Eclair, while Tyne Tees news presenter Pam Royle was also present.
Guests enjoyed a four-course lunch before browsing several stalls selling goods such as shoes and handbags.
Clients who were represented at the hotel included Estee Lauder, Molton Brown and Ginny D while singer Val Boyers put on a show to keep the guests entertained.
