SNOW and wintry conditions have closed a string of schools in East Durham while Hartlepool appears to been spared again.
Despite snowfalls last night Hartlepool has been spared the worst, with no major problems on the town’s roads reported or the A19, A689 and A179.
Several schools have closed in East Durham where there has been heavier snow coverage, although there have been none in Hartlepool.
St William’s RCVA Primary School, in Trimdon Village, Wheatley Hill Community Primary School, Thornley Primary School, Trimdon Village Infant School, Trimdon Junior School and Deaf Hill Primary School have closed due to snow and ice making it dangerous for pupils being transported into school.
Temperatures will struggle to get above freezing today, although only light snow showers are expected in coastal areas.
Keep logging on for further updates.
