THREE people aboard a speed boat had to be rescued after it broke down in a harbour.
A volunteer Hartlepool Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) crew was called to the stricken vessel called Lazy Days at around 10.30am yesterday after it became stranded off Fish Sands, on Hartlepool’s Headland.
The inshore lifeboat was sent to tow the boat and those on board to safety at Kafiga Landings after they called HM Coastguard to report a problem.
A fishing boat also stopped to offer help.
The incident was put down to “mechanical failure” by the lifeboat crew.
