PRIMARY school pupils enjoyed a day of races, games and fun at their annual sports day.

Springwell Primary School’s field, in Hartlepool, was a hive of activity as staff organised an action-packed day of fun.

A variety of races and games were held all morning before the youngsters made the most of the soaring temperatures by enjoying lunch on the field.

A range of stalls, raffles, tombolas and activities were then held throughout the afternoon.

Sue Palmer, deputy headteacher at Springwell Primary School, in the town’s Wiltshire Way, said: “It was a fantastic day from start to finish.

“The children absolutely loved it.

“We organised a variety of events at the sports day so all of the children could take part, they all really enjoyed it.”

The school holds a sports day every year and staff say it always goes down a treat.

Mrs Palmer added: “It’s always a brilliant day, especially when the weather is as kind as it was to us this year.”
