NEW sports sessions for pre-school youngsters are being launched.
The hour-long sessions, which have been created for children to enjoy the fun of sports while learning important skills for life, are to be held at Hartlepool’s Brierton Sports Centre.
Two sessions will take place, with Footie Tots on Tuesday mornings, from 11am to noon, kicking off on May 22.
There will also be Fit Tots, which runs Thursday mornings, from 11am and noon, starting on May 24.
Liam Lewis, Hartlepool Borough Council’s assistant sport and physical activity officer, said: “The sessions introduce children to the fun of sport and keeping fit, but they also help them gain some key skills, including agility, balance, coordination and decision-making.
“All of these are important for a child’s development and help prepare them for a school environment.”
The sessions are led by fully qualified coaches and are carried out in a safe environment.
Places cost £2.75 per session and can be booked by calling Brierton Sports Centre on (01429) 287606.
