A PRIMARY school is celebrating after being awarded a golden sports accolade.
Children, staff and governors at Clavering Primary School, in Clavering Road, Hartlepool, are delighted to have achieved a Gold in the School Games Mark.
The golden status recognises Clavering as being amongst the very best in the country for its outstanding PE and competitive sport provision.
The Mark rewards schools for their commitment to and the development of competition, school sport and physical education.
Deputy Headteacher Neil McAvoy, also competitive sport director, said: “Achieving the highest level of the School Games Mark is testimony to the tremendous work that goes on at Clavering. We are fortunate to have staff members and families who understand and appreciate the benefits of the Clavering PE and Sport Programme in terms of both sporting achievement. In addition, we are blessed with amazing children right across the school who have a tremendous appetite for what we offer in our PE curriculum and our wider competitive sport opportunities.”
The Sainsbury’s School Games Mark was created by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
