THE future of tourism in the Tees Valley is going under the spotlight amid major changes in the industry.
visitTeesvalley, the group responsible for looking after tourism in the area, is shutting down after a shake-up in funding.
But bosses at its parent organisation Tees Valley Unlimited will spearhead a conference on Thursday and they say tourism remains an integral part of their plans.
They will be joined by council chiefs, business bosses and delegates from other organisations for a meeting at Wynyard Hall.
The Visitor Economy Networking Event will outline how tourist services are to be delivered beyond March this year.
Stephen Catchpole, managing director of Tees Valley Unlimited, is speaking at the event. He said the event provides TVU and its partners with an opportunity to hear firsthand what the arrangements will be for future support for businesses within the tourism sector.
The event is being held on Thursday from 10.30 am until 12.30 pm.
