HARD-WORKING staff at a popular park cafe are delighted to have received top marks by a food hygiene watchdog for the fifth year in a row.
A Place In The Park, which is situated in the grounds of Ward Jackson Park, in Hartlepool, holds events for customers and the community throughout the year, as well as providing a daily welcome shelter and break for visitors to stop for a drink or a bite to eat.
The staff all work hard to keep standards high.
And following a recent inspection by the Environmental and food Hygiene Agency the workers were delighted to discover that they had been awarded five stars for food, preparation and storage, which is the highest standard available.
The cafe staff were extra happy because the prestigious five-star grading is the fifth year in a row that they have received it.
Cafe boss Maria Harrison told the Mail that she was overjoyed that the hard work and dedication of staff had paid off.
She said: “We’re all absoloutely delighted that we have been awarded five stars - which is the top rating from the Environmental and Food Hygiene Agency for the fifth year in a row.
“This is the highest standard for several peramitors for management systems to food preparation and storage.”
She added: “We are all working hard to keep standards very high and looking at ways we can improve our facilities to enable our customers to have a great time whilst enjoying the beautiful grounds of the award-winning Ward Jackson Park.”
The cafe sells a selection of hot and cold drinks, warm and cold foods, and a daily selection of cakes, cookies and biscuits.
It also runs a twice- weekly play group, has recently installed wifi, and holds events for the community throughout the year - in conjunction with voluntary groups and the council – for Easter, Halloween, and Christmas.
