THREE staff at a Hartlepool cafe have cooked up more than 60 years of service between them.
The Galleries in Middleton Grange Shopping Centre marks 22 years since it first opened its doors to hungry shoppers.
Christine Monaghan has been there since the very beginning and celebrates 22 years of service, while catering assistants Carole Cooper and Tina Lawrence are both celebrating 20 years service at the cafe.
The Galleries has seen many changes over the years with a separate cafe and restaurant area.
Christine said: “Over the years we have added different things to the menu. The smoothies and milkshakes are particularly popular with our younger customers, however, it’s our scones that we are famous for. They were the most popular item when we opened and continue to be so today.”
The cafe will celebrate the anniversary on Friday and Saturday with a raffle, tombola, live guitar music, food sampling, and a 20 per cent off all food offer.
They will be supported by Hartlepool performing arts charity Red Dreams who will be raising money.
Robert Hall, manager of The Galleries said: “We are proud to be in Middleton Grange and to have been successful for such a long time.
“We wanted to have a really fun weekend with our customers and staff, as well as raise money for a local charity.
“We hope as many people as possible can come and celebrate with us and here’s to another 22 years.”
Mark Rycraft, centre manager at Middleton Grange added: “The Galleries has always been an important part of our centre. The service is always second to none and the food is great too.”
