The Insolvency Service said the Official Receiver has been told that the new traders will honour pre-existing contracts for future functions, such as weddings that have already been paid for.

It added: “Those who have previously paid monies to Darwin Hotels Ltd and believe themselves to be a creditor of Darwin Hotels Ltd should submit any claims to the Official Receiver at Newcastle.”

Mr Morton said there had been a restructure of the whole group.

He said: “People’s existing contracts are secure and there is no difference to what has been offered in the past. Should anyone have any concerns just phone up the hotel.”
