Star striker back in the classroom

A STAR striker returned to his former school to help spread the word about Hartlepool United’s season ticket offer deal.

Pools forward Adam Boyd spent the morning at Manor College of Technology, in Owton Manor Lane, Hartlepool, talking to youngsters about the deal which could see teenagers pay as little as £2 to watch games at Victoria Park next season.

Boyd, who was accompanied by school head Alan White and the club’s media manager Mark Simpson, popped into several lessons and year groups to give details about the deal and hand out hundreds of leaflets.

While he was there, the striker was also given a tour of the school’s new £50,000 music room which was officially opened by Alesha Dixon in May – even taking time out to have a quick lesson on the drums.

The 29-year-old year said: “It’s always nice to go back to Manor College and re-live some good memories.

“Mr White was brilliant in letting us interrupt a few lessons and tell them about the season ticket prices and hopefully some of those kids will like what we said and come along to The Vic this season.

“It’s an amazing deal for under 16s to pay just £50 for a full season of football – I think it works out at just over £2 a game which is great value.

“We obviously want as many young people as possible to come and support us so it’s important we went out and got the message across to them.”

If the club reach their target of 4,000 sales before Friday, July 15, then adult supporters will have to pay just £100 for their season ticket – less than £5 per game.

Youngsters under 19 would pay just £50 if the club reaches the target.

So far more than 2,600 tickets have been sold.

Under 13s season tickets will remain at £50 regardless of sales, though those tickets must be bought in conjunction with an adult season ticket.

All categories of season tickets count towards the overall total.

The ticket office at Victoria Park, in Clarence Road, is usually open from 10am-4pm, from Monday-Friday, with opening hours extended in the lead up to the deadline.

The office will be open from 10am-6pm on Thursday, July 7, and Thursday, July 14.

It will also open this Saturday and on Saturday, July 9, from 9am-1pm.

Fans can also buy their tickets over the phone by calling (01429) 272584.
