A CHILDREN’S charity still has places available for people wanting to experience the Great North Run.
Barnardo’s has a small number of guaranteed places in the September event which will see around 54,000 people tackle the 13-mile course from Newcastle to South Shields.
Barnardo’s runs more than 50 services in the North East which cost around £17m a year.
Fundraiser Mick Helm, from Barnardo’s, is also keen to hear from people who have places already for the event on Sunday, September 18, but were intending to run just for themselves, or who had not thought about taking part on behalf of a charity before.
He said: “Taking part in the Great North Run is such a personal achievement but it can be much more than that if, on top of running for your own sense of satisfaction at doing something well, you can raise money for charity.”.
Anyone interested in running for Barnardo’s can contact Mick on (0113) 2575287 or email email@example.com.
