People in Hartlepool still have time to scoop a prize at the town’s horticultural show.
The annual event is set to take place in the Borough Hall, on the Headland, between 12.30pm and 5pm on Saturday, August 22, and between 11am and 4pm the next day.
There are over 100 categories, ranging from chrysanthemums, dahlias, roses and carnations to carrots, tomatoes, rhubarb and shallots. There are also home crafts categories for the best cake made with a vegetable, best vegetable quiche and best scone, plus children’s sections. Flower arranging has also been reintroduced.
The National Gladiolus Society will also be holding its Northern Exhibition at the event, attracting growers from all over the north and Midlands. People can enter up to the day before the show, or at the Borough Hall on the first day between 6am and 9am.
