HOSPICE staff are urging people to play their part in a popular festive fundraiser at the start of next month.
Last year was Hartlepool & District Hospice’s most successful ever Santa Fun Run and this year bosses are hoping fundraisers can better that yet again.
The run around Ward Jackson Park takes place on Sunday, December 1.
But there’s a lot more festive fun planned for the day with a Christmas fair, Santa’s grotto and face painting all on offer for families.
Hundreds of people decked out in Santa outfits will be making their way around the half mile route around the picturesque park, starting and finishing at the Place in the Park.
But there’s still chance for people to register and hospice staff are hopeful for a late rush of entrants.
Greg Hildreth, the hospice’s events fundraiser, said: “Last year was our most successful Santa Fun Run ever and we hope to beat that again by raising more than £5,000 for our patient care services.
“This event is great for all the family to enjoy and a lovely way to start the countdown to Christmas. People can take part in the run and then enjoy refreshments in the Place in the Park along with a little bit of Christmas shopping, all in aid of our very special charity.”
All of the costumes are provided by the hospice to those who take part and runners get to keep the outfits.
The fair will run from 10am-2pm and all stalls, selling seasonal gifts, homemade toys, cakes, Christmas cards and hospice merchandise will be donating a percentage of their takings to the hospice.
The starting gun for the run will go off at 11am. Registration for the run costs £5 for adults who will receive a full Santa suit or £3 for children who get a set of Rudolph antlers or a Santa hat.
Everyone who takes part will also receive a mince pie, Santa Fun Run certificate and a badge.
